All vehicle rentals in Coleraine are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement given at the time of booking or vehicle pickup. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the latter will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To hire a vehicle from Car Hire in Coleraine, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type. A valid driving licence suited to the vehicle category is required, along with valid identification and proof of your current address. Payment information and a security deposit must also be provided, along with any other requirements outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payments
- Reservations can be made via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Coleraine branch. A deposit might be necessary to confirm your booking. The total payment, along with a security deposit, is usually required at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where appropriate. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is essential to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be generated and must be signed by both parties. When returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as when it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged accordingly. The vehicle should be returned with the same fuel level as at collection; refueling fees will apply if the fuel level is lower. Late returns may incur additional fees, so please inform us as soon as possible if you anticipate a delay. You will be liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or charges incurred during the rental, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Details
- All rental vehicles come with basic third-party insurance included. Full coverage information and any excess amounts are outlined in the Rental Agreement. You may have the option to purchase additional insurance to lower your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for damage or loss up to the excess amount, unless you opt for additional coverage. Any damage resulting from negligence or misuse will be your responsibility, regardless of insurance.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice provided. For precise details, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Please be aware that late cancellations or no-shows could incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited uses of the vehicle:
- Use of the vehicle for illegal activities is strictly prohibited. Engaging in racing, rallying, off-roading, or other risky pursuits is not allowed. Transporting hazardous materials or substances is forbidden. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is not permitted. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is illegal. The vehicle should only be used for its intended purpose, and you must adhere to passenger and weight limits. Driving beyond the specified geographical boundaries requires prior authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed by the laws of England and Wales, Car Hire Coleraine is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the total amount you paid for the rental in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be handled exclusively by the courts in this jurisdiction.
